Well, a crazy storm came through my neck of the woods last night and did some major damage. The roof of one Lutheran Church in Fairmont, Oklahoma (about 20 minutes away from me) was ripped off, and quite a few trees and powerpoles are lying around right now for miles.
That said, the power at the house is out, and estimates say it could be as many as 2 weeks before it’s restored. As a consequence, I’m probably not going to be posting anything new for some days. I knew I was burning out and needed a break from blogging at some point in the near future, but now my hand has been forced: I must take a short leave of absence and get a vacation. Granted, sitting in the dark in 100+ degree heat with no air-conditioning isn’t the vacation I’d have planned (I’ll just pretend I’m a Chilean miner), but it’s what I have to work with for now. Maybe I’ll get to make a new hobby out of reading by candlelight…
At any rate, this does also reenforce my decision to close commenting for a while – since I won’t be around to moderate I don’t want things to get hairy in my absence. You can still comment, of course (like sending condolences, for instance), I just won’t get around to approving them until my power is back.
So farewell to the blogging world for now – see you in, at most, 2 weeks!
