Y’know, there are some folks, even whole denominations, in Christianity who deny the doctrine of Original Sin. That is, they deny that human beings are sinful from the moment of conception (guess they don’t do too much reading in the Psalms [51:5]…) and teach that children are innocent until they learn how to sin from their parents and other influences after birth.
Not only is this position completely without Scriptural support (indeed, the Scriptures point the opposite way, hence the doctrine of Original Sin), but it also assumes that all our shortcomings, selfishness, and sin are imparted through the teachings of our folks instead of our own, innate fallen natures. Which leads me to ask…
Who taught him that?
(Haha, what you are seeing is a child chase his parents down in order to have a breakdown in front of them to garner attention. Smart? You betcha. Sinful? Ho yeah. Blows my mind how anyone who’s ever raised a kid could say they are “innocent”.)
You know, thinking back, most of my earliest memories are of me being selfish… what does that say about the true state of my heart?
…And what does it say about the Lord of Glory who died to redeem me from the evil produced by it?
