Yeah, I know I made some pretty bold claims about the state of modern Christianity in my recent post, and probably some of you think I’m overreacting. I’m telling you, people are turning into crazy occultist-type worshippers in some of these services, and the people who know better than to think God is in such blasphemous idiocy are leaving the Church in droves for places that actually give God some respect: namely Judaism and Islam.
“Churches today are just spirit-filled, Tom. You and the others just can’t handle the Holy Fire descending upon God’s people.”
Really? Well, then watch the below videos and tell me that this is the picture the Bible paints of how we should relate to God and approach in worship. If there’s any Holy Fire descending, I have a feeling it’s going to be the destructive kind. The comment box is wide open – so feel free to tell me my mind is closed.
…just watch the videos first.
What’s next? The Itsy-Bitsy Zacchaeus? Twinkle-Twinke, little Christian? Ten-horned, seven-headed, crawling purple people eater?
Hmmm, maybe this woman thinks she’s one of the prophets of Baal from 1 Kings 18:27?
“Sockies”? (Chris Rosebrough has pointed out this guy looks like an overweight Rufio from “Hook”. I think I agree!)
Did you hear a word about Jesus’ atoning death on the cross in there? Yeah, me neither. You know, since Christ, and him crucified is the beating heart of the gospel, don’t you think we could have been told about that instead of this overt moralism?
And lest you think that this is just me railing against all you nameless evangelicals out there who dig this stuff, keep in mind that I’ve also got tabs on the crap going on in my own denomination: The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
And we wonder why people think Christians are nuts?
No substance, just vaguely pagan, overtly blasphemous practices in the name of Christ.
And as long as this continues, people will be justified in leaving this type of hollow spirituality for something with a bit more concrete substance, i.e. Judaism and Islam.
Repent, fellow Christians.
It’s time to repent.
